Svitlana Maksymenko, PhD - Member of the Board of Directors and Sponsorship Chair

Dr. Svitlana Maksymenko was born in Lviv, Ukrane. After winning Ukraine’s National Mathematics Olympiads in 1990-1992, she was privileged to study Economics and Finance at the Lviv Polytechnic National University and later received a Law Degree from Ivan Franko National University, Ukraine. In 2001-2006, Svitlana became a recipient of the Edmund Muskie Fellowship sponsored by the US Department of State and along with other four fellows from Ukraine moved to the US.

She received a Ph.D. in Economics from Temple University in 2006. In the same year, Dr. Maksymenko joined the Department of Economics at the University of Pittsburgh, where she lectures in Microeconomics, International Economics, and International Finance. Her research interests include developing economies and economies of Central and Eastern Europe.
