Chervona Kalyna

  In Ukrainian

The Viburnum (Kalyna) is probably the most glorified tree in Ukrainian culture. It symbolizes the spirit and the courage of the Ukrainian people who gave their lives fighting for their land, their traditions, and Ukraine’s freedom.

The fate brought many Ukrainians to the distant lands. Here, far away from Ukraine, we build our new lives, our children are born here, but our hearts and souls remember our dear native Ukraine, our songs, our poems, and our traditions.

To preserve our traditions here on American soil and to transfer them into the future, the amateur group Chervona Kalyna was formed. Our goal is to create an opportunity for children and youth to connect to our native Ukraine through poems and songs - even if it’s just for a moment.

During our initial year of our existence we held many different performances. However, this is just the beginning… Because the viburnum bush is already covered with beautiful white flowers in many of our hearts, we will continue to work hard, so the viburnum’s red fruit will be born in the hearts of future generations.

We invite everyone to participate.
